A considered metal detail can give a building its own identity. We work with architects, designers and builders to turn a drawing, existing feature or digital file into a cast component that belongs in its setting. Shape, fixing and finish are discussed together.
Is it a façade ornament, fitting, gate detail or new component? We first ask where it belongs, how it is seen and attached, its dimensions and whether it will be repeated. Site photographs can be as useful as finished drawings.
02
Develop model and mould
For an existing setting, measurements, photographs or a scan may inform a new model. For a new design, we discuss the effect of casting method on thickness, separate parts, joints and surface detail. A prototype can help assess the shape.
03
Consider the final connection
A casting rarely stands alone. We review how it meets a gate, railing, façade or structure. Bronze, brass and aluminium offer different appearances and applications. Patina, grinding or polishing are chosen with the environment and use in mind.
04
Consider connections and fixings in the design
Send the detail design together with information about the surrounding structure, installation and required dimensions. Cast ornaments and fittings must work visually and technically. We consider model making, casting, finishing and connections to other metalwork together.

Frequently asked questions
Can you work from a photograph?
A photograph is a useful starting point. Accurate reproduction later needs measurements, further views and sometimes the original part or a scan.
Can cast parts be combined with forged metalwork?
Yes. De Gietkamer grows from Tupker's blacksmith workshop. We review the joint between cast and forged parts for each design.
Can cast details fit an existing door, gate or façade?
We assess dimensions, profiles, fixings and appearance using photographs and drawings. An appropriate model and an agreed installation approach are important.
Can you make several matching architectural details?
Yes, a small or medium series can be discussed. Specify quantities and any differences between locations so the model and mould can be prepared accordingly.
What do you need for a useful price indication?
Send whatever you already have: a photograph, sketch, drawing, model or file. Dimensions, quantity, intended use and finish help us assess the production route. If anything is missing, we will ask you directly.
